The Antidote for the Wrath of God Almighty

It is first necessary to acknowledge the tragic loss of life and the colossal amount of suffering that has taken place as a result of Hurricane Harvey. While infrastructural damage and losses may be quantifiable, it is impossible to quantify the pain and agony that countless families have felt and will continue to feel for weeks, months and years to come. It is equally important, as a nation founded on Godly principles, to deeply reflect upon the root cause of this catastrophe. For a believer, it is quite simple, albeit politically incorrect. The misery and misfortune from torrential downpours and ensuing flooding are a forthright symbol of God Almighty’s wrath. As unpopular and uncomfortable as this premise may be found, it is anything but meritless.

In scripture, we’ve read of countless examples of cities, towns and, for that matter, entire nations, being destroyed as a result of disobedience and open rebellion to God Almighty’s laws and decrees. Sodom and Gomorrah are but two illustrations of the repercussions when mankind scorns his Creator. While a collection of contemporary intellectuals have attempted to retrofit scripture verses here, and completely disregard other verses there, true believers have no reservations in acknowledging that the wrath of God Almighty is absolute, as is His love.

The greatest insult and affront to God Almighty is to ascribe partners or equals unto Him. It is most hateful in the eyes of God when His creation attributes partners to Him. He, alone, is worthy of our worship and He is without partners or equals. As the command instructs, “Hear, Oh Israel. The Lord our God is one Lord.” (Deuteronomy 6:4). When the commands of God Almighty are blatantly disobeyed and transgressed, His wrath falls. It is a pattern that has been repeated for centuries on end.

Abraham Lincoln, in his 1863 Gettysburg address mentioned, “that the nation shall, under God, have a new birth of freedom.” This affirmation became further ingrained into the fabric of our nation nearly 100 years later when President Dwight Eisenhower signed legislation allowing the term “under God” to be incorporated into the Pledge of Allegiance. At the time, President Eisenhower remarked, “From this day forward, the millions of our schoolchildren will daily proclaim in every city and town, every village and rural schoolhouse, the dedication of our nation and our people to the Almighty…In this way, we are reaffirming the transcendence of religious faith in America’s heritage and future; in this way, we shall constantly strengthen those spiritual weapons which forever will be our country’s most powerful resource, in peace or war.”

It is no secret that America has had it’s share of dark and proud-less moments in her history. That said, we would, collectively, be wise to concede the fact that our nation has nearly abandoned many of the Godly principles upon which it was founded. Thus, we stand at risk of embarking on a downward spiral of moral degeneracy and decay. It is incumbent upon those who are God-fearing to confront our ailments in order to receive the antidote. And the antidote is prayer and sincere supplication!

With the utmost sincerity, we advise and encourage our fellow Americans to seek the forgiveness of God Almighty and to acknowledge Him as One. He is the Lord of all of the messengers. From Adam, to Enoch, to Noah, to Abraham, to Lot, to Ishmael and Isaac, to Jacob and Joseph, to Job, to Moses and Aaron, to David and Solomon, to Jonah, to Zackariah and John, to Jesus the Son of Mary and finally to the Seal of the Prophets Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon all of them). He is the King of Kings and the Ruler of Rulers.

Once more, Hurricane Harvey and its aftereffects are not an act of “Mother Nature.” Rather, they are acts of God Almighty. If sincere believers were to stand on high ground and declare, “There is only one God and no God other than You. We believe in You and declare that you are the God of Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon them), the only God. Save us from this destruction and Your wrath and forgive us for our sins!” three times, then they would be saved and it would subdue the calamities taking place in Texas and Louisiana. With humility, we pray these words reach the hearts and souls of the masses. Amen.
